The Terrible and Terrific Tudors meet Varjak Paw.

This term we are learning about The Tudors, from the Battle of Bosworth onwards. We have already had a visit from The History man and a visit to Glocester Cathedral, where we experienced a monk's day.

Our class book is Varjak Paw, and its sequel The Outlaw Varjak Paw. It is very exciting.

We are practising all of our arithmetic skills in Maths to help us to solve increasingly complicated caculations. We have also done a lot of work with shapes and shape nets.

In Talk for Writing we have created a setting for a narrative, written a newspaper report and are currently writing a character description based on Gollum, who is small and sneaky and just plain evil. To enhance this we have studied alliteration, onomatopoeia, expanded noun phrases and the clever use of commas for making sense.

In science we looked at how to stay healthy, and enjoyed a visit from The Life Bus to finish this and are now looking at Light, Reflection and Shadow. Mrs Letts came from Crypt school to teach us at the beginning of this topic- it involved glow sticks, irridescent bubbles and rainbows!

Every week we practise spellings for a spelling test. Get them all right 3 weeks in a row to earn golden Tickets and move up a group.

In Design Technology we will be looking at building model Tudor houses. No straight lines necessary!
